Catastrophe in Karbala What, exactly,

Catastrophe in Karbala What, exactly, can I say about something like this? It's not like the American soldiers who fired on the van can make everything better by saying "sorry". And there's no way we'll ever know why the driver refused to slow down as she approached the checkpoint, just days after a suicide bomber murdered four soldiers under disturbingly similar circumstances.

Before the war started, I knew innocent people were going to be killed, and I don't think it takes away from the rightness or wrongness of this invasion. The Americans and British (and Canadians) killed thousands of civilians during World War II, and it certainly doesn't make that war any less justified. But it still doesn't make this any easier.

While I'm saddened by the death of innocent children, I'm absolutely enraged by the way Arab "journalists" - and their left-wing apologists in the West - will use this as just another propaganda tool. Is Al-Jazeera a legitimate news source? Let's see them perform some sort of investigation into this incident and give the Americans a fair chance to explain themselves.

I will say this. Aside from the usual yahoos you can find in any society, there is not one - not one - supporter of this war who will celebrate what happened to these kids. And that's more than you can say for the easily-outraged viewers of Al-Jazeera or readers of Al-Ahram when Palestinians target Israeli children for cold-blooded murder.
