Farewell to the NAC
The National Action Committee on the Status of Women, which for the past three decades has taken taxpayers' money to rant and rave against the evils of the evil kkkapitalist economic system that made us wealthy enough to waste thousands of dollars on hyper-leftist moonbat groups, is on the verge of shutting down.
I'm heartbroken too.
Canada's most influential lobby group for women's rights has been silenced, so crippled by debt and abandoned by women across the country that it's now too broke to answer the phone [or update its webpage, which still features the Durban anti-racism/bigotry/Jews conference in its "news" section - ed.]. Sources tell The Canadian Press that the 30-year-old National Action Committee on the Status of Women is in talks with the federal government, begging it to forgive unpaid taxes.
A group of about five women - all that's left after the NAC stopped being able to pay its president and staff in 2001 - is lobbying desperately for support to rebuild.
"NAC is in crisis," said Bev Meslo, the group's B.C. wing representative [and the 'NDP Socialist Caucus' candidiate for the party leadership a couple of years ago - ed.]. "It needs financial support. I think now women are starting to fight back, realizing they need this independent voice at a federal level.
"My hope and belief is that they will run to NAC and support it financially and every way they can to ensure that voice remains and the 30-year history built around women's issues in this country through NAC will not be lost."
[...]
[The Chretien government] cut the NAC's funding seven years ago.
By that time, the group was out of touch and women did not come to its rescue with donations as Meslo still hopes they might.
You know why "women did not come to the rescue with donations", Bev? Because, by and large, Canadian women think you're a bunch of freaks.
