Another uprising?

Ha'aretz has more details. The revolt, in a Kurdish-majority region of the country, appearently broke out during a soccer match but has ballooned into protests against the Ba'athist regime. Syrian troops have allegedly been called in - and dozens of people have been killed.

A free Iran and a free Syria in 2004? We've been let down before - but it's starting to look like a tantalizing possibility (which has absolutely nothing to do with the removal of the totalitarian madman whose regime bordered both countries, of course).
