Into the "moderate" Muslim abyss

The Muslim Council of Britain - not to be confused with the more overtly pro-Hamas Muslim Association of Britain - calls Sheikh Yassin a "renowned Islamic scholar" and lumps him in with other Palestinian "civilians" killed by Israel:

The Muslim Council of Britain condemns in the strongest terms Israel's criminal assassination of Shaykh Ahmad Isma'il Yasin, the renowned Islamic scholar and founder of the leading Palestinian Resistance Movement - Hamas.

"This heinous act of state terrorism against this disabled man as he was leaving the mosque after the morning Fajr prayers is pushing the entire region ever closer to the abyss of mayhem and must be stopped," said Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the MCB.

"We hold the international community and the US directly responsible for allowing the Israeli Occupation Forces to continue with its policy of wanton killing and terrorising of Palestinian civilians. No amount of military force and assassinations will bring about a Final Solution to the 'Palestinian problem'," added Iqbal Sacranie.

Every Palestinian, even the leader of Hamas, is a civilian. Every Israeli child, on the other hand, will be drafted someday, so they're all legitimate military targets. Only a bloodsucking Zionist couldn't see the logic here.

The MCB has issued rote condemnations of terror attacks in most of the world (all the while complaining about the perpetrators being called "Islamic terrorists", of course), but has not issued a single press release condemning attacks against Israeli civilians. Every January, they issue a press release complaining about how the "Palestinian genocide" has been ignored on Holocaust Remembrance Day, though. (Note the reference to "the controversial question of alleged Armenian genocide as well as the so-called gay genocide" in its 2001 release.)

And then there's another British "mainstream" Muslim group, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, which "take[s] joy in the knowledge that the Sheikh has died a heroic martyr’s death, guaranteeing him a place in paradise", and whose webiste includes plenty more peaceful, thoughtful rants like this:

Sheikh Yassin is now even more closer to the hearts of Muslims and freedom fighters worldwide

He will be revered as a martyr forever more, a billion and half people celebrate his life, his death and his entry into heaven.

Not only Sheikh Yassin’s life but also his death are a source of inspiration for every Muslim, his martyrdom will breathe a new life into the Palestinian cause and freedom movement
[...]
Zionists gleefully boast at the killing of one Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, however 15 have already been born to follow in his footsteps. Several Palestinian mothers have named their newborn sons after the martyr and hundreds, no doubt thousands of Muslim mothers around the world will do the same. [emphasis added]

I'm still trying to convince myself that an overwhelming majority of Muslims do not support the likes of Hamas - despite the best efforts of the MCB and MPUK to convince me otherwise.

Update: when Tam Dalyell talked about a Jewish "cabal" controlling George W. Bush and Tony Blair, MPAC praised him for "telling it as it is."

Update II: type "Holocaust" into MPAC's search feature and you get some truly disturbing results. They aren't quite brazen enough to come out and explicitly deny the Holocaust, but they have no problem posting trash like this article accusing "Jewish power brokers" of formenting anti-Semitism by constantly whining about the Holocaust. (Oh, and most Polish Communists were Jews, and "Jewish policemen ordered Germans out of their homes and into cattle cars". And Jewish organizations - "extensions of Jewish finance" - have "censored all Hollywood scripts involving Jews" since 1948.)

If the author, Henry Makow, sounds familiar, that's because he's one of Mikey Rivero's favorite sources, too.

Update III: they have no problem with this, either. (Check out the cartoon.)
