On the Eve of Revolution

Commenter Werner observes accurately: "Now that violence is directed at European targets, I have heard nothing about the "cycle of violence" and "violence begets violence". All the threats and embassy burnings go only one way. So much for all that sage advice about conflict resolution."

Where is the West on this, the outrage? As importantly, where is Islam? Do all Muslims march in lock-step with Shia and Sunni "traditionalists"? Perhaps the old-line "activists" may not represent Islam's future.

Commenter Albertanator pointed us to a Muslim who needs our support:

"Mr. Nawash is incredibly brave and if the Muslim world had more men like him, we wouldn't be in this mess that we are in...
[ ]
I don't know much about Nawash's politics but I know he needs our support!
"

Both highlight fundamental disagreements within Islam, an internal struggle between the 7th century and the 21st. Will we have the nerve to support Iran's pro-western movement towards regime change from within? Could it be that the eventual collapse of the fascist theocracy in Teheran will divert Islamic resources towards a broader Islamic reformation?

Update: Via Glenn Reynolds (thanks!), IraqPundit's take. Thank you IraqPundit. He's informed, on-site and a lot clearer about ME and Islamic issues than our buddy Warren. He, too, is the future.
