A politician can have good reasons for crossing the floor, but this is naked opportunism of the worst kind. Everyone is comparing Emerson to Belinda Stronach, but when I heard about this, the first person I thought of was Scott Brison, who very publicly abandoned the new Conservative Party just a few days after voting in favor of the merger.
