Why the US/India nuclear agreement is a Good Thing

Because the two most populous republics in the world (thank goodness for the Seven Years War--Plains of Abraham, Plassey), with the two largest militaries, are coming closer together.

India is at last also enjoying the capabilities of capitalism. And both countries face threats from certain Muslims.

Perhaps, in the long run, the agreement--if the US Congress has the good sense to approve--will be seen as a better Bush version of Nixon's visit to Peking (as it then was). East is East, and West is West, and maybe the twain can meet. With Hindus this time.

Real- und Kulturpolitik. A courtship made in...It gives one furiously to think.

But there is neither East nor West,
Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face,
tho' they come from the ends of the earth!
