A Dispatch from the Ministry of Truth

Tony Burman, Editor in Chief of CBC News writes an open letter that is a priceless gem of NewSpeak for its unflinching willingness to rewrite history and demonize rational dissent:

"Most of us not only felt genuine relief and happiness about the rescue but, more profoundly, saw in these "peacemakers" something that was quite admirable, courageous — and classically Canadian.

[...]

"I think many of us saw in the actions of this group — at least with the two Canadians — something that was part of a history of peaceful Canadian involvement in the world."

The history of which Burman writes began in the CBC's Year Zero, or what the rest of us know in the Gregorian calendar as 1968 AD.

Oh, and apparently we were all too mean and thus un-Canadian towards James Loney.
