How Not to Think About "The Unthinkable"

For a remarkably large number of liberal-minded pundits, their conception of the role of nuclear weapons in conflict remains mired in the days of Herman Kahn. Fred Kaplan at SLATE is content to live in that now-distant realm. It is amazing how some of the harshest critics of the "nuclear priesthood" are among its most god-fearing, unquestioning worshippers. A word of advice to Kaplan: the difference between a 5KT-yield bunker-buster and a WW2 incendiary raid is 999 aircraft. Next to an armed warhead, the delusion of the ferengi chattering classes is the mullah's best friend.

In stark contrast, Mark Steyn is bang on in his estimation of a nuclear-capable Iran and what must be done for our survival.
