Our long national nightmare is over

...until she gets her own show, anyway:

The tumultuous reign of Rosie O'Donnell on "The View" ended yesterday when ABC gave her permission to quit the show.

The parting of the ways - which came 3 1/2 weeks before her planned departure date of June 20 - was the final act of the most turbulent week yet in O'Donnell's stormy nine months as a co-host of the ABC mid-morning chat show.

O'Donnell's decision to quit yesterday came two days after a spectacular on-air argument between the left-leaning O'Donnell, 45, and her right-leaning co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 29, who went at it for nearly 10 minutes over President Bush's Iraq war policy.

I guess this Blogcritics post is redundant now, since I can't see a Rosie-less View inviting the Loose Change idiots for a chat. Either way, good riddance.
