The fall of Vick
ESPN's Pat Forde explains just how far Michael Vick, once hailed as an innovative, exciting (if ill-armed) quarterback, has fallen. When you first saw Nike's "Michael Vick Experience" commercial, did you even suspect we'd see the man caught up in a scandal like this?
How can someone with so much talent, who has been given so much and praised so highly, associate himself with something so depraved as dogfighting? The question answers itself - like nearly every other athlete who's been caught doing something wrong, Vick thought he was invincible. Now, if he's lucky and doesn't get suspended for life, maybe some desperate team (ahem) will give him a shot when he gets out of jail.
My favorite story related to this ugly episode: the Atlanta Humane Society is using old (and soon to be heavily discounted) Michael Vick jerseys to clean up after their dogs. In the meantime, I'm nearly alone is rooting for the much-maligned Joey Harrington to make the Falcons respectable this year.
