The next conspiracy theory

A new Osama bin Laden video, featuring an Osama with a newly dyed and/or fake beard, is set to be released. MSNBC has the full text, which includes references to global warming, congressional Democrats' failure to stop the Iraq war, and even Noam Chomsky. (Via Hot Air.)

9/11 conspiracy-mongers make a big deal about how Osama bin Laden supposedly looks like a completely different person in his "confession" video. (This supposed anomaly is, like every other 9/11 "unanswered question," easily explained - to those willing to listen, at least.) Needless to say, they'll have a field day with this one, and the fact that Osama seems to be repeating leftist talking points will have even more people saying it's another devious Karl Rove set-up. (He only wants you to think he resigned, you know...) Already, predictable responses are showing up on ABC's political blog:

This tape is totally bogus! Only an idiot would believe this tape to be real. All the neocons need now is another false flag and martial law will follow.

Mr. Bin Laden always seems to pop up just when the White House needs him most to distract the American people from what's really going on. And the fake beard? Try fake video-- if Youtubers can produce special effects to rival Geroge Lucas on a Mac, how hard do you think it is for the government, backed by the latest in technology, to do the same with some old Bin Laden footage? Just for once, consider the source of all this media alarmist propaganda, and ask yourselves-- who benefits? Not any of us, that's for sure.
