Only in Canada, You Say?

There is an old tradition of bold free speech in Canada that just drives the Left *nuts* on both sides of the 49th. Trudeau, for example, despised the Amiels and the Blatchfords of the Press who simply told the painful truth.

The latest example of such is the latest column by Michael Coren, who doesn't mince words over Aqsa's murder and the sickness that caused it.

We'll report the fall-out internationally as it happens. The Blogfather is already onto it.

Much credit goes to Peter Worthington's stewardship of the Sun over many years, stubbornly maintaining the ancient British tradition of Freedom of the Press. These days, Mark Steyn is drawing legal woes as had others (i.e. Worthington) before him. One may fully expect Mr. Coren to face similar hostile action.

The blogosphere has an extraordinary responsibility, commensurate with its freedom, to protect Mssrs. Coren, Steyn and others to continue to cause pain, to offend, whatever the result of speaking freely. We can do so here simply by speaking our minds. Rather, we must.

For those who would excoriate Steyn or Coren in the comments below, do try to remain aware that your freedom to do so depends upon their freedom as well.
