Free Paul Jacob

Paul Jacob, Rick Carpenter and Susan Johnson are facing felony charges for violating Oklahoma's statute requiring petition circulators to be residents of Oklahoma.

Indicted for petitioning the government of Oklahoma while American! Hey, I've heard of some nasty low-life crimes, but nothin' quite like this.

"“This indictment is not about the law, but about politics—ugly, anti-democratic politics,” said Paul Jacob, president of the pro-initiative group Citizens in Charge and a senior fellow at the Sam Adams Alliance, a grassroots political organization. “Their prosecution is a 100-percent politically-motivated attempt to threaten and intimidate me, and any other citizen wishing to petition their government.”" - Paul Jacob

Thanks to Glenn Reynolds for the heads-up. Take the time to fire off an e-mail, post to your blog or hit their tip jar. Jacob, Carpenter and Johnson could use the good will of the international, multi-lingual and politically diverse blogosphere.
