You know what other four-letter word begins with F?

Autoblog can't understand Ford's fascination with model names beginning with the sixth letter of the alphabet.

"Focus" is fine, though I'm not sure what was wrong with "Escort." "Flex" would be an okay name for a subcompact, but not a crossover vehicle. Ford's upcoming, long-overdue-in-North-America small car will be called the "Fiesta," a name with a lot of brand recognition in Europe, but not much over here. ("Verve" is much better.)

"Fusion" and "Freestar" were pretty dumb to begin with. What I really don't understand is why Ford won't bring back so many of its great model names from the past - "Galaxie," "Capri" and "Falcon" come immediately to mind, and say what you like about the car, you have to admit "Maverick" was a great name. They can keep "Pinto," "Fairmont" and "Contour" hidden away, though, and it may take many more years before "Bronco" overcomes this little incident...
