Saluting an NFL legend
After a storied, inspiring career and the adulation of millions of fans across America and around the world, an NFL quarterbacking giant, the likes of whom we may never be lucky enough to see again, is gone:
Joey Harrington, the third overall pick in the 2002 draft by Detroit, is the latest victim of the Atlanta Falcons' purge. The quarterback, who started 10 of Atlanta's games last season, was cut Wednesday, only two days after the Falcons cut running back Warrick Dunn. ...
Oh, yeah, some guy in Green Bay retired, too. Fellow Bears fan Rick Moran pays tribute. (In all seriousness, I'm sure Harrington will still be a moderately well-paid NFL backup when the new season starts. I don't think we've seen the last of David Carr, either, even after a catastrophic 2007.)
