Buchanan's "revisionism," continued

Further to this post, one commenter argues that Hitler originally tried to deport the Jews from Germany and its conquered territories, but other countries - including the United States - refused to take them in. Hence, the death camps.

Of course, even this would establish that the destruction of European Jewry was one of Hitler's goals, not something he was forced into. (Not to mention the fact that, even when the tide of war had turned against the Nazis, they were still diverting much-needed resources toward the machinery of extermination.) Still, if Buchanan wanted to use this line of argument, he'd probably have a point. But that could also be interpreted as an argument for liberal immigration policies, so no prizes for guessing why Pitchfork Pat shys away.

One other amazing quote from Buchanan's column:

If [Hitler] wanted war with the West, why did he offer peace after Poland and offer to end the war, again, after Dunkirk?

Hmmm...now, why would Hitler offer to stop fighting after he'd beaten France and driven opposing armies from the continent? I'm stumped.

Meryl Yourish piles on.
