"Good for Mugabe"

Margolis has a point about the way we condemn some dictators while coddling others. But, wow:

Obedient western-backed dictators who rig elections are hailed as "statesmen." Insubordinate rulers who don't co-operate are branded "dictators" or "tyrants."

Good for Mugabe for refusing to be pushed around by the hypocritical western powers screaming about his electoral fraud while blessing worse fraud and oppression in the Arab, Central Asian, and African dictatorships they support. (via SDA)

Sure, he's slaughtered, starved, tortured and exiled thousands of his own countrymen, wrecked his economy and agricultural base, and turned one of Africa's most promising nations into one of its worst basket cases. But he sure stuck it to Dubya, didn't he?

(The reference to "prosperous, beautiful Rhodesia" was a nice touch, too. No wonder Margolis writes for Pat Buchanan's magazine.)
