A thumping good Conservative majority/Incredible shrinking Liberals

That majority is outside Quebec. In fac,t a 33 seat advantage over other parties. The Conservatives won 133 out of 233 seats in the Rest of Canada, compared to 100 seats taken by others: Liberals 63, NDP 36, Independent 1 (subtract Quebec seats from national seats).

Moreover, in the RoC the Conservatives got a very respectable 44% of the vote (same process using popular vote figures).

Country-wide, the Liberals got some 60% of their seats--44 of 76 in just metro Toronto (32) and Montreal (12). In fact, that's 42% of all Liberals seats in metro T.O. alone. Talk about a remarkably isolated political party--with voter support very unrepresentative (see T.O here) of the country (and of Québec) as a whole.

I'm waiting for the major media to report, or comment, on the sorts of figures in this post. One can easily envisage this headline on the front page of the Globe and Mail, should there be this parallel circumstance:

42% of all Tory seats in Alberta

Party driven back to its base

Mark C.

Damian adds: the CBC's electoral map tells the tale: aside from Yukon and Newfoundland and Labrador, there's not much red to be seen (until you zoom into Montreal and Toronto, of course).
