What's in a name?

One wonders why Khadija Abdul Qahaar is always referred to as Beverly Giesbrecht, except once, in this Globe and Mail front-page story. After all, she...

...took the name Khadija Abdul Qahaar upon converting to Islam after Sept. 11, 2001...

Note that date. Then there's this maximum understatement:

She now runs a website called Jihad Unspun, which reports on global anti-terrorism efforts [and a whole lot more; the site seems to have been started in 2004 - MC] from a Muslim perspective ...

The Muslim Ummah must unite. The Prophet (pbuh) even went so far as to make a covenant with the Jews in order to fight the early enemies of Islam. Whether we are white or black, Lebanese or Somalian, Arab or non-Arab, Salafist or Deobandi, from this tribe or that, the Muslim Ummah must unite globally if we are to survive. Exploiting the divisions among us has been the number one weapon that the enemies of Islam have successfully used against us for the past 1200 years...

Explore the site a bit to get the full, er, flavour. Here's an earlier post by Damian.

On other hand, some think jihadunspun.com is a CIA front (more). Maybe that's why the lady got kidnapped--they do access the Internet in the NWFP. A murky old world.
