They are Islamic terrorists
An editorial in the Ottawa Citizen deals with the simple truth:
The news reports out of India, filled with scenes of carnage and horror, concluded with some variation of: "the motive for the attacks was not immediately known." This is not surprising.Terrorists who kill in the name of Islam don't need "motives." They kill because, in their view, they have a religious duty to do so. The hijackers who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. never issued demands. Killing, for them, was an expression of faith...
Read on. If only the media generally would ditch their asinine self-censorship. And the "reason" for this?
N.Y. rabbi, wife killed at Mumbai Jewish center
This Canadian (Jewish) escaped the Oberoi Hotel. More on Mr Ehlich (I saw the CNN video clip but can't find it--help requested):
[...]Some of you may have seen an interview on CNN with Jonathan Ehrlich, who was staying at the Oberoi Hotel. Ehrlich said that as he made his escape from the hotel, he was acutely aware that, as a Jew, he was even more vulnerable (those who doubt that Islamist terrorists reserve a particular venom for Jews should remind themselves of what happened to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.) But Ehrlich was also clear that what has manifested in Mumbai is an “evil” ideology which is indiscriminate in targeting anything it hates. “It doesn’t matter if you’re Indian, Thai, Jewish or Christian,” he said [none of that is mentioned in this CNN-based AFP story--hmm]. He also made a recommendation which had one Mumbai blogger “swelling with pride.”..
Tarek Fatah, for his part, dishes the paranoid US/Israeli/Zionist/Jewish conspiracy fetish that far too many Muslims (and not a few others) share:
The mayhem in Mumbai had barely subsided when I received the first e-mail suggesting the terrorist attacks had been carried out by agents of Mossad -- Israel's military intelligence -- masquerading as Islamic terrorists to give Muslims a bad name.A writer from Toronto forwarded a news item claiming, "India's Internal Security Police are now holding and questioning an identified Israeli Mossad agent, who had been in communication with some of the alleged terrorists in India two weeks before the BLACK OP attacks took place."
As ridiculous as this may sound, chances are countless Muslims are deluding themselves into believing that it is not their co-religionists who are responsible for the savagery let loose on India, but some hidden hand that is part of a U.S.-Zionist conspiracy against Islam...
Tarek Fatah is the author of Chasing a Mirage: The Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State.
And Terry Glavin takes on Tariq Ali (remember him?).
