Comments: Conservatives the new, improved Liberals Wimps?
Comment by dougf:

What precisely do you want ? You appear to believe that if only there was a REAL 'conservative' Party that all would be right with the world.

A REAL 'conservative' Party would have as much success as the NDP. Permanently. Is that what you want ?

It's not what I want, but each to his/her own I suppose.

DougF;

The New 'DP'ers have been the most successful Party in Canadian history. NDP policy has pushed the politics of your country far, far into the loonie Left. The beauty of parliamentary demolition, sir.

If a true 'conservative' party were to emerge and push a clear ideologically alternative agenda, then perhaps some return to sanity may occur.

If the Conservatives were to remain consistent with such a clear agenda, then yes, they'd never "win" a majority. On the other hand, they'd have great success with that agenda via the same minority party leverage presently enjoyed by NDP.

What you "want" is social change. Think strategy, not tactics.

I'm with Doug; all the opposition has been able to accomplish, during Harper's reign, is to stall, stonewall, obfuscate, and muddy the waters. They certainly haven't moved their agenda forward.
The beauty of the present situation is that we have a toned down copy of the Liberal's do-nothing management, but without the graft.
Middle of the road works for me.
