we should not confuse education with intelligence, or intelligence with wisdom.

The neo-totalitarian idiots portrayed by Kay prefer to ignore that in a democratic society with free speech and free press, one freedom they justifiably lack is the freedom from being offended.
"middle-aged academic launched into a stream of jargon-laden duckspeak"
The only place such people can find employment is universities, usually in the humanities.
We need to keep in mind that without Jon and the Post there would be no one on the Canadian national stage telling us the truth. The CBC is quasi-commie and the Globe is gutless. There is an appalling lack of balance in our media with respect to social issues. And don't ever dare mention human biodiversity. As I understand it, raising that subject is grounds for murder here in Canada (or at least character assassination :-)

Speaking the truth can never be defined as hatred.
We can discriminate without hatred. We must, every day to survive.
Join with me in a covenant of the truth and approach complex issues with exhilarating confidence.
The freedom from being offended is very much a leftist ideology. The only thing they don't apply it to is Christianity (though with the left's increasing antisemitism that is beginning to change).
I think Christians would be more likely to shrug off things like Piss Christ and the Da Vinci Code if there were more disrespect of other creeds and philosophies on the left. But the same people who beam approvingly at Christian-bashing movies, books and artwork start howling like outraged orangutans when someone even hints at criticism of their favourite special interest groups. Danish cartoons, anyone?
Most 'professional' lamestream media has become the domain of the stupid and/or narrow-minded.
Thankfully there are bloggers willing to say 'the emperor has no clothes'.
I wonder who will be the first blogger to win a Pulitzer prize? Or has it been done already?
"white privilege," "racialized spaces" and "existing paradigms of public discourse in the media."
As James Lileks would comment: "Tenure granted. Next!" It's a shame the universities are allowing this crap to crowd-out education.
