Seems like a long time on the public teat and bloody little useful to show for it.

I was never a Lamer fan. Seems he was a criminal-sympathetic criminal lawyer and did not grow much beyond that. R. v. Stweart. Vaillancourt and Lac are the cases I remember him for most.

Lamer was also not quite with it the last several years. Clerks used to have a bit of fun behind his back. The otehr judges also lost respect for him. I recall watching the other judges almost laughing at him as he tried haplessly to salvage a concurring opinion of his in a previous case. He was getting redder and redder as the hearing progressed.

He was a good Canadian and dedicated himself to the country and should be rightly commended for that. But i would not rank him as a leading jurist in the country.

"Good Canadian", Murray? A man of his times, I suppose. A political judge when he could get away with it and a crybaby when he couldn't. Time for a little de-mortuis-nil-nisi-veram.

Quit making excuses for them, Damian. They don't like democracy.
