Comments: Predictions for 2008
Comment by David Crawford:

They just announced that Brian Billick had been fired (per the CBS announcers at the Sun Bowl).

Hey, congrats on your successful popping of the question! (I don't recall an announcement before, so I'm assuming this is the first blogospheric acknowledgment.)

Comment by Damian P.:

I mentioned the engagement back in May, but I don't bring up personal matters much, so it's not surprising if you missed it. Thanks.

If the Ravens had waited a few hours, I would have one prediction right (which is about as many as I expected, frankly).

"the Americans begin gradually pulling out of Iraq in mid-summer. Violence increases, but not to pre-surge levels, as the country moves toward de facto partition."

Damian... Gradual, but to a limit. We're still not out of Japan, Korea, Germany, or Cuba, or Oregon for that matter. I'll bet we keep a large force in Iraq, for a generation or more. [Hey... speaking of partition, swap ya even, Oregon for Alberta!]

Oregon has Oil & Gas?! *Pthhpppp....*

I'll add a couple to Damian's list:
--- gold reaches $950/oz US.
--- the Gun Registery is still hanging around.

All the Best to Everyone here; A Happy and Prosperous New year, Folks !!!

Gun Registry? So one can get his daughter a Ladysmith as a wedding gift? Great idea!

Interesting!

My dissents...

1)Ron Paul gets 10-12% (2nd place?) in New Hampshire- and has enough money (and just enough support) while out-spending all other Repubs until "Super (Duper) Tuesday" (Feb 5, 2008)- which leads to a "brokered convention"- and J. McCain is nominated to re-enact "Dole '96".

(Hillary 1-2, Edwards 5-1, Obama 15-1. See 2004-- Edwards will "suddenly" be considered "electable"...)

2)The "Loonie" hits 1.13 vs the Dollar while the US suffers it's worst "economic downturn" since 1979. (Gold hits $1250/oz-- oil stays over $90/bbl)

3)Brett Favre becomes "John Elway" cubed-- when Green Bay beats New England in the Super Bowl.

4)Brittany and Jamie Lyn might both be pregnant on 1/1/09-- and if "KFed" is a 'potential father', it won't be w/Brittany...

5)Chrysler finally dies!--- 29 years too late... (Tata will buy GM- if they can 'offload' the current pension/health care obligations to the Gov't.)

Comment by Alan K. Henderson:

The one reason to support Hillary winning the nomination is to find out what milquetoast gelding she'll pick for her running mate. There is no way in Hades that she'd pick someone who comes even close to overshadowing her.

Comment by Bruce Rheinstein:

Global climate change continues unabated with the current cooling trend in the northern hemisphere reversing early in the year. The offshore pack ice will recede requiring polar bears to swim greater distances between ice flows.

And then fall and winter come again.
