Comment by Mike H:

Canadian participation has been disqualified by virtue of the pre-condition set by the Sudanese government: No effective troops allowed.

No one seems to want to do anything effective about Darfur. Putting UN "peacekeepers" into a place where there is no peace to keep is futile. They will spend their time hiding from the raiders and raping underage local girls, as UN peacekeepers have done all over Africa for many years past.

There are two things that might bring about an actual peace in Darfur. None of the people blathering about it has the courage to do or even advocate either of them. The first is to overthrow the Sudan's Islamist government, which has now run two genocidal wars against ethinic minorities since gaining power. It should be replaced by a colonial government that will bring peace to the whole country, rather as the British did when they ruled.

Alternatively you can concentrate just on Darfur. Go in there and kill every Arab man you can find. That will eliminate the Janjaweed, who started this genocide and carry it out.

Short of these expedients no good will come of this intervention. The UN is a sink of corruption and incompetence and the enabler of dictators and genocidal psychos.

Those who do not have the moral courage to face up to the necessary violence for stopping evil, vicious, genocidal psychopaths should shut up about it.
