Comments: A professor as pure propagandist
Comment by Mike H:

"Like them, Harper sees the Kyoto Protocol – arguably the most important treaty ever – as "essentially a socialist scheme to suck money out of wealth-producing nations."

More accurately, what the Kyoto Protocol is most certainly not is a scheme to suck money out of the so-called "developing" countries. I say "so-called developing countries" because when it comes to emissions, India and China are very much "developed."

"On all foreign policy issues, let's not be afraid to conduct our own analyses, to have our own national debates. In the end, we'll likely decide to work with the United States about 95 per cent of the time."

This, after he slags Harper for having a foreign policy in lock step with the United States:

"Thanks to Harper, Canada has become the pliant instrument of a failed U.S. presidency. We are now, for all intents and purposes, a vassal state."

Nope, no contradiction there.

And this guy is a university professor? Byers should be serving hard time for theft of tuition.

What an asshole.

He could be correct if the UN had 1 million well equipped men and women at their disposal to use. But they don't and likely won't either.

The Star printed a letter from Maxime Bernier today, in response to Byers' bull doo-doo laced diatribe.

Talking of Kyoto and Harper, the Star had one of it's wonderful editorials today, about how the cut in the GST is filling the pockets of the Chinese, as we are now buying more Chinese made goods,( I suppose rather than Canadian made Ipods,TV's etc),
I doubt if they would support an increase in the GST,also they should mention that if Canada signs the Kyoto accord and puts controls on Canadian industry, we will be lining the pockets of the Chinese even more, and more jobs will be lost to the Chinese.
