The other bad news for the HD-DVD camp? The top 10 high definition titles for the past month are ALL Blu-Ray discs.
That certainly won't sit well for HD-DVD enthusiasts I'm sure.
The mustache brought up one point that bears some attention, Microsoft could have equipped its new Xbox with HD-DVD out of the box and it would have put a lot of players out there early in the game. It would have also negated the early console price advantage that they had though.
I think that Microsoft is in a position where they would benefit from a drawn out format war where both sides lose due to market confusion. Downloadable or streaming HD content would be an easier game for MS to play. They already have market saturation with Media Player, which has built in DRM and HD capabilities, and extensive experience on the server end.
With Apple announcing their new streaming HD content, this war might go to the "no-disc" solution if ISP's can manage the bandwidth for it. A Blu-ray disc holds 50 GB and I've heard that most Canadian ISPs get their necks up when customers start downloading on that scale.
Time Warner, who has a big stake in the disc game, is now contemplating putting hard caps on internet usage. Is this a coincidence?

Apparently Addie was also a fan of the Cowboys. Which explains alot.
