General Rick Hillier has really put the cat among the pigeons with his straight talk on Kandahar and the need for a continuing combat mission. As much as I love the guy, this doesn't help Harper reach a compromise with Dion. The Manley report was a way of papering over the differences between some Liberals and the government, but the illusion has now popped.
And if there is no 'compromise' or at least face-saving illusions, there may well be an election.
