If the dems had a winner take all system like the reps do HC would have won this thing easily.
I give her a much better than 10% chance because in the final analysis she is the more electable candidate of the two. This will be particularly so if she wins PA (she's ahead by more than 20% in one poll) Indiana (10% ahead) and NC (just 1% behind in a pre-speech poll).
The next debate is in Philly. There could be some epic sound-bites coming out of that.
McCain is rising for a reason. The Democrats should have put a stake through Hillary's heart earlier on; she is dragging down the party through her pathological ambition. Now the Democrats are going to blow yet another sure-fire opportunity to win the presidential election.
Posted at 2008-03-25 08:26:20 [PermaLink]Does anybody remember when the Clintons were demigods? The Golden Boy (and Girl)? The alas-would-that-we-were-still-in-the-enlightened-Clinton-era ultimate role models? The Teflon King and Queen whom no scandal could sully? THOSE Clintons? Anybody know what happened to that?
Apparently they made the fatal mistake of running against a charismatic minority candidate. Democrats = nest of back-biting vipers.
"Now the Democrats are going to blow yet another sure-fire opportunity to win the presidential election."
I certainly hope so, but November is still a long ways off.
There can be only one explanation: Even if Hillary cannot win in 2008, she still has at least three more chances in 2012, 2016, and 2020. But obviously she must assure Obama's defeat in 2008. I think Brooks hit the nail on the head, the Clinton's are extremely narcissistic and selfish people. Unfortunately, no matter how you slice it, they will be "in our face" for at least 12 more years.
Posted at 2008-03-25 09:52:25 [PermaLink]Since when does the 'Messiah' deserve some special electoral consideration ?
He is a guaranteed loser in November. Guaranteed. Why should Clinton fold when she has the money and the opportunity to clean his clock in most of the remaining primaries ?
She will be demonstrating to ALL just how much of a loser Obama is and will be. THAT is her chance to get the nomination. That the Party wakes up to the fact that they about to nominate someone who CANNOT win. Obama would lose Ohio(almost impossible to do this year), and I predict he would also lose Pennsylvania which would be an absolute loss for the Dems. Without those States he may as well save a vast amount of money and simply concede now.
Again ---- why should Hillary give it up ? If it were not the 'Messiah' involved would anyone be seriously making this suggestion ?
I think not.
If the media have anything to do with it, the HildeBeast will win in a landslide. Her bare-faced lie about "landing in Bosnia under fire" has not, so far, been mentioned by The Star or the Grope and Flail. Well, the Washington Post, from which they take their US news, hasn't as yet deigned to notice this issue, is anyone surprised? At the moment she's claiming she mis-spoke amd mis-remembered. Chelsea Clinton is claiming she was there, but deferred to her Mama's account. Is it possible there's a shred of honesty in the child? With those parents?
Posted at 2008-03-25 16:47:54 [PermaLink]I agree with Murray. Regardless of what Obama's chances may be against McCain, Hillary is dragging down the Democratic party with the continuation of her hopeless campaign. Despite all her efforts Obama is still the favored candidate and if she cared anything about the party or the country she would concede. I think at this point she has even ruined any chance of being the vice-presidential candidate. I am generally a faithful Dem, but I would vote for McCain before Hillary, I hope she wakes up and stops embarrassing us all.
