"I'd like to say I'm disappointed in Mugabe, but this has been SOP for quite some time. I am disappointed, once again, by his fellow African leaders, who seem perfectly cool with the Zimbabwe tragedy continuing."
If almost any of the African 'leaders' were 'leaders' anywhere else in the World, what would be the almost universal opinion of them ?
For all the talk about Africa 'turning the corner', the real face of African politics is more Mugabe than Mandela. The fact that a vicious moron and clear incompetent like Mugabe can still get close to 50% of the vote after all these years speaks volumes.
I hope he ends up on a lampost.
Soon.
But the odds are he will eventually wander off to exile with everything not nailed down. After killing a lot more people before he finally goes.
It was a surprise to see how many votes Mugabe did get in this election, but the numbers are probably the result of faulty "rigging" by Zanu-PF. Mugabe was trying to walk a tightrope between too few and too many rigged votes but he and his thugs got it wrong this time. I guess they'll just have to do better when the runoff is held. No question about it: Zimbabwe needs international assistance.

I'm not sure, what did they think of Idi Amin?
