Comments: South Africa's shame
Comment by Ran:

Maybe they'd be better-off dumping this socialist garbage and trying a bit of free-marketing?

Ran: The free market is wonderful but only works well with a reasonably honest or competent government. Neither appear to be present among Zimbabwe's neighbours where corruption is rampant and (in Mbeki's case) the looney tunes are in charge.

The ANC believes in democracy as long as the ANC is elected. They support Mugabe because one day, South Africa's election results might also have to be delayed until the next election.

The moral quite simply is NOT to hand over the keys to a bunch of commies.

John B., true - especially about Zim's neighbors. [What a crew.] All the more reason gov't should be small and limited.

It never fails to amaze how socialists who decry the corruption of large corporations running [effective] monopolies always see large controlling gov't as the alternative. Government is just another corporation running monopolies... in this case, land redistribution. The free market - however imperfect - was much better than the new status quo.
