Comment by Peter:

I can hardly wait to hear when she tells the moonshiners and snake-handlers of Appalachia all about what Daddy and she used to do on their holidays.

That article by Will is terrific. The transition of the left from tolerant champions of the sweaty and illiterate to snobbish beautiful people in Starbucks sniffing at the Tim Horton's crowd is perhaps the most tectonic change on the postmodern political scene and explains a lot of Harper's success and of the right internationally. Tom Wolfe wrote brilliantly about how they have elected to practice rococo marxism, re-defining the working stiff as a bigoted yahoo while seeking out or even inventing new oppressed classes like the disabled or...umm...sexual minorities. To be sure, they still will occasionally march for the poor and downtrodden masses, provided thay are at least a continent away.

Comment by Sigivald:

She has, at least, enough to sense to not claim to "be a hunter".

I find it perfectly plausible to believe she's shot a duck, once. I don't believe she's an "enthusiast", but she hasn't really claimed to be one.

(And nothing she said is actually incompatible with her disgraceful and well-established desire to ban Ugly Black Rifles and Mean Ol' Pistols, so it passes the internal consistency test.)
