What hypocrites! So much for the First Amendment.
The ironic thing is that some of the extreme right-wingers on Lucianne and Free Republic are taking Wallace to task for not being "tough enough" on Obama. Oh, and also accusing Fox News of becoming a shill for the left wing establishment!
John, is there a point to your observation that somewhere someone on the right has expressed an observation of which you disapprove?
Posted at 2008-04-28 06:50:07 [PermaLink]Bruce, I didn't "disaprove" anything. I'm simply saying the obvious - that there are extremists on both sides. The far lefters argue that Obama would not get a fair shake on Fox, the far righters that Fox was not tough enough. Both arguments, IMHO, are actually silly and are prime examples of the "whose ox is being gored" principle.
My political viewpoints are much more to the right than they are to the left, so I'm not sure why you think I'm "picking" on the right.
1. There's a profound difference between calling someone a traitor for appearing on Fox News and criticising an interviewer for asking softball questions.
2. Choice comments from threads on Free Republic and Lucianne are no more representative of right-wing opinion than are those of, say, DJ on this site. They are not the equivalent of a Kos screed. [External Link]
1. I'm not talking about the run-of-the mill comments on Lucianne and Free Republic. I like both sites and would say that they are equivalent to a TalkLeft or similar liberal site. Nor, did I say or imply that these, admittedly, few individuals were representative of either site.
2. My original post was referring to Dan Abram's comments, not the KOS kids or DUers, which did not refer to Obama as a traitor, but were equally asinine. At the same time, I was simply pointing out that Fox was also coming under attack by SOME EXTREME right wingers. Some of their comments were more than just criticizing "softball questions." They were ad hominem attacks on Chris Wallace and/or Obama.
3. I admit to not having following Damian's link to LGF until just a few minutes ago. Had I done so sooner, I would have been more precise in my original comment.
4. Basically, I was just pointing out that there are kooks on both sides of the political spectrum, which is not exactly a brilliant and profound observation. To deny otherwise, though, is to deny reality.
"there are kooks on both sides of the political spectrum"
Perhaps, but this year, with the political center of mass having shifted to the port side of the ship, the bilge water is mostly on the left.
"...the bilge water is mostly on the left."
I can agree completely with that.
