It has to be the two generations of glittering postwar propaganda that's made it so hard for us to do what we need to do now - ignore the UN completely, as a first step to seeing either its complete reform or its dissolution. Only idealistic high school teachers and career diplomats think the UN is relevant anymore - the average person is either bored or disgusted whenever the two letters are mentioned. It's not 1948 anymore, people, and it's time we let the illusion die.
