Here I was thinking that the NDP thought that cars and car races were immoral based on cars creating pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Next thing they will probably do the unthinkable and promote the manufacturing of gas guzzling cars in Ontario. Then blame it on Alberta and newfoundland for providing the fuel.

I am sure that the owners of bars on Crescent Street and will be thankful to Jack for his support . The loss of the Grand Prix will be bad for business.

On a more serious note,how much would it take to bring the race back? Where is money going to come from? It hardly seems right to tax ordinary Canadians to support a spectator sport for the jet set or to ask them to subsidize their watering holes.

Don't get me wrong. I frequent these places myself. I just don't think that the government should be paying for the races and festivals that make summer so agreeable here in Montreal. In a time of economic crisis, it seems fair enough to ask that these events be self sufficient.
