Well, Ottawa's pretty chilly this time of year, isn't it? Can't be much fun standing around outside. And unlike the umpty-thousand Ukrainians camped out in the middle of Kiev, the Ottawa (non)protestors really don't have anything at stake.

Posted at 2004-11-30 21:05:44 [PermaLink]Dan has a point... The media are the protesters.

Is that you, from Roger Simon's blog? A hearty welcome to you, even though you insult our women folk! We'll get over it, it's what we do.....
Ran, Dan:
I think you've got it about right.
The weather is Ottawa has been quite warm lately, for those that may be wondering. There is no snow and the temperature is above freezing. So the weather is not holding anyone back. Not to mention people that live in Canada do not let cold weather bother them.
Like the US, but probably even more so, the media in Canada is left-wing-liberal-biased, so it's true that the media seem to be cheerleaders for protesters.
The only politicians to join in were a few in the far left socialist party, the NDP.
The protests, for the most part, were a lot like the anti-globalization protests of the past few years, with a lot of young bozos sporting mohawks, tattos and eyebrow rings trying to cause havoc, and failing for the most part.
Bush scheduled in a meeting with the conservative leader of the opposition party Stephen Harper, which was a nice gesture and a statement of sorts.
100,000 protesters? That's a complete joke. Knock off two zeros from that number and it might be about right.
