Hmph. Way to rub it in, Penny.

I keep getting my hopes up, because it starts to snow, but then it stops, and it looks like someone's been at the back garden with a big icing-sugar shaker. I'm insanely jealous of "snow right up to your waist".

(But welcome back, anyway.)

Liz, I take it you're south of the Mason-Dixon?

Because *I'm* insanely jealous of "then it stops."

What IS it with the anti-snow brigades?

Here in Boston, it has been snowing like it is supposed to in the winter. At this latitude, there really should be snow on the ground from, oh, mid-December through mid-March (though a late November start is welcome).

This winter has been a nice change from recent years, in which we get a little snow, then it warms up, then the rains come. After the big thaw in early January, we get a massive Arctic high (thanks, Canada!) parked over us for two weeks. It's below zero F for a solid week, but no snow in sight: just dead brown grass and bone-chilling cold. Then it warms up and rains, and I have to hear in delighted tones from what seems like everyone in Boston, "Hey, at least it's not snow!"

Sorry to rant, but this is an emotional issue for me.

Joe G - in fact, I'm quite a way east of the Mason-Dixon line - I'm just along the river Thames from London!
