And some piano wire.

Course, a firing squad would suit me just fine as well.

Now that Zim is a socialist Trudeaupia... single payer medicare, job security, trade unions, nationalized farming, governmental protection of the environment... What's not to love?

OK. Firing squad... ya know Half, the Yanks invoked their Second Amendment before they wrote it down. (Revolting as it seems.)

The horror of the Zimbabwe population shrinking so fast is one thing, but the important thing for MSM reporters is; does it deserve as much column inches as Gitmo?

So where do those 4 million go? To South Africa creating more social problems for Mbeki.
Couldn't he see it coming when he was supporting Mugabe against the rest?
What do they teach at the London School of Economics?

If Geldof and Bono really want to help, they should use their millions to form a mercenary army dedicated to the overthrow of African tyrannies and the defence of the rule of law.

No it doesn't (to them), why not? Because it's not sensational enough so nobody gets excited about it. Does Michael Jackson deserve as much ink being used on him as say, hmmmm....., the two fourth generation wars being fought by America, right now, with soldiers dying every day? Nope, lets watch Jacko. Or hear about the runaway bride. Or an hourlong interview with the moron parents who lost their kid in the desert. Or hear stories about Ayrab's being tortured. You can bet half the audience is disgusted and half the audience wants to hear the details so they can be proud of the progress being made(or dissapointed that the torutre isn't 'good' enough, like Killick). Either way, it gets them tuned in, outraged, involved in the story. Zimbabwe probably won't elicit such a reaction.

Media is an enterprise that exists to capture people's attention and sell ads based on the perceived quality of that attention. If people aren't paying attention, they change the channel, put down the paper, click another link, etc... ad nauseam (literally). Therefore media is driven by its audience. North Americans, by and large, don't care about Africa, Africans, African politics, African wars. They'll flip the channel to see what size bag of Cheetos Britney just picked up. Did she get Red Bull too? More news at 11.
