What about comic book guy? Lenny and Carl?

Comment by mark:

Homer has the history of voting Republican/Conservative. He supported Burns's run for Governor and he supported Sideshow Bob's run for Mayor. "I don't agree with his Bart killing policy, but I do agree with his Selma killing policy"

Comment by David Crawford:

Liberal:

Gil, the pathetic salesman (it's society's fault he's a failure)
Groundskeper Willie (he voted labor in Scoot-land, he'll vote Liberal in Canada)

Conservative:

Professor Frink, only logical choice GLAVIN!!
Cookie Kwan, number #1 on the west-side

Actually, I know a guy like Ned; very big on the NDP.

Comment by matt:

There's no Anarchy Party so if Bart could vote he would have to go Freedom Party or spoil his ballot and drop his pants at the DRO on his way out of the polling station.

Comment by David Crawford:

Oh yeah, we forgot Millhouse's parents.

His mother (a bitter, emasculating shrew of a woman), obviously an NDP voter.

His father (a bitter, emasculated failure of a man), obviously a Liberal voter.

Comment by BC Tory:

What about the candidates...who would run for each party?

LIBERAL:
-Mayor Quimby: a liberal mayor, lots of slush fund...the ideal Liberal!
-Lionel Hutz: shifty lawyer, doesn't really know what he's doing...would make a perfect Liberal backbencher.
-Mary Bailey: state governor, star candidate; lives in Capital City, but, hey, the Liberals do like parachuting candidates into ridings.

CONSERVATIVE:
-Lenny Leonard: experience in Nuclear Power Plant, middle-class type that would appeal to honest gov't and GST cuts, possibly gay, helps the moderate appeal
-Krusty the Clown: experience in US congress, beloved childrens entertainer...who better to defend Conservative child care policies!
-Julius Hibbert: beloved doctor, dedicated conservative, would know problems of healthcare system.
-Birch Barlow: conservative commentator. Likely wouldn't run, but you never know.

NDP:
-Edna Krabappel: teacher of the year nominee, once led a teachers strike...just what the NDP is looking for!
-Groundskeeper Willie: hey, the NDP nominated a janitor in the BC provincial election...who's to say they won't do it again?

GREEN:
-Jesse Grass: "eco-hunk", level 5 vegan...just what the Greens need in an appealing candidate.

CHRISTIAN HERITAGE PARTY:
-Ned Flanders: don't need to explain this one.

MARIJUANA PARTY:
-Otto Mann: again, no explanation required.

INDEPENDENT:
-Homer Simpson: he's so popular, he could contend without any party banner!

Comment by Ed:

Brilliant concept.
I know that Disco Stu won't be voting Liberal after Paul Martin's comments on the death of disco today.

Fat Tony and his crew- Liberal...
Carl and Lenny- Liberal, probably, because of the same sex legislation
Hans Mole Man- Meant to vote Liberal and ended up voting Progressive Canadian party
Kent Brockman-Conservative. Benefit from the tax cuts
Comic Book Guy-Small businessman but a bit of a 60's hangover too. NDP
Seymore Skinner's mother- Liberal

Comment by Lizzie:

Isn't the CAP nationalist, or do I have that wrong? Moe's an immigrant, so he'd hardly be likely to vote for a nationalist party.

Comment by Paul Canniff:

Lizzie,

Moe is a conspiracy theorist and self-confessed lifelong snake-handler, so I think he and Paul Hellyer go together like two thin patients in a straightjacket.

Comment by Scoop:

Abe and Jasper, definitely Conservatives, probably Herman would be as well (he would be coming over from the Reform party...
Skinner is a Liberal, but Superintendent Chalmers is definitely a Conservatives...
Burns is a Conservative (relaxed environmental regulations); Smithers is NDP...
Homer would vote Liberal; he hates the Bush family, and hearing that Harper is a Bush buddy would be enough to sway him...
Lou would vote Liberal; Ed would vote Conservative...
I get the feeling Kirk Van Houten is a Conservative; Luann is a Liberal, maybe even NDP...
And I get the feeling Barney Gumble doesn't vote...

Comment by John Palubiski:

Clever posting! However, I think Lisa Simpson would be more inclined to support the Greens.

Comment by Anthony:

Based on American politics, Apu would vote Conservative, at least this election. Indian immigrants are more likely than many other immigrants to be Republicans, and small shopkeepers of any national origin are more likely to be Republican.

Homer would vote Conservative this election, partly to "throw the bums out", but he might have voted Liberal in the last one, and might vote Liberal in the next.

Comment by Adam Sobolak:

Some comments.

Homer: the perfect Mike Harris-era PC MPP.

Marge: left-Liberal, not that Homer notices or cares.

Bart: if he could vote, he wouldn't--though he'd be Homer's chief campaign worker. (And Homer'd choke him if he found out he didn't vote. Of course, Homer himself'd forget to vote...)

Lisa: followed Jesse Grass back to the NDP from the Greens.

Burns: more Tory than Liberal sleaze (cf. Quimby)

Apu: Gurmant Grewal Tory.

Cletus: NDP, but Reform in the 90s.

Comic Book Guy: Reform in '93 (and Libertarian before that). Now Jim Harris Green.

Skinner: had the Liberal nomination in '97 sealed--until Chretien "appointed" Mrs. Krabappel (HA!)

Abe Simpson: Confederation of Regions candidate once upon a time.

Krusty: think Mel Lastman.

Disco Stu: Trudeau Liberal (as in Margaret)

The Van Houtens: John Turner Liberals.

Troy McClure: didn't vote, even though he beseeched Springfieldians to vote.

Flanders: NDP, on grounds of "good works", though naturally at odds with party's social policy (and with Rev. Lovejoy's CHP inclinations). MPP in 1990-95.

Lionel Hutz: PC candidate 1993.

Frank Grimes: former head of PC riding organization, outmanouvered by Homer's Reform/Alliance team, fled to Liberals

Groundskeeper Willie: there's no SNP in Canada, is there?

Hans Moleman: totally Prog Can (think Grafftey)

Crazy Cat Lady: Canadian Action Party
