FYI, Damian, the link that purports to go to Publius Pundit actually goes to the Yahoo story. Might want to correct that!

Why pick on just Google? In the case of the government getting web history information, Yahoo caved in without even a protest. Plus, it was Yahoo who helped the Chinese government track down "illegal" web activity in the past, landing at least one person in jail. If you don't use Google, which company would be better?????

The NYT still has Walter Duranty's Pulitzer displayed in their lobby, as a reminder of why nobody should ever trust them (although I suspect they might not see it exactly that way).

Is there any reason why Google should ever be trusted again? Can those of us not living under Chinese totalitarianism be certain it's only those dumb gooks and slopes and other furriners who can't handle unrestricted access to information? Or rather, that that decision hasn't already been made for us by Google or Yahoo! or anyone else willing to whore his company out?

Comment by Wes S.:

"Publius Pundit notes that this craven, cowardly decision came just days after Google made a big show of refusing to provide data to the American government."

But don't you DARE question their patriotism!
