Comments: All this could be written about Canada (and some truth about soldiers)

"Europe lacks core values that it holds sacrosanct and that it's willing to defend at the highest cost"

Maybe the millions of dead Europeans that have died this past century over ideology have led to an unwillingness to embrace ideologies that are "costly".

The examples which we have seen of "collective ideals and values that transform their society into a sacred entity" have, for the most part, lead to tremendous human suffering.

Examples:

Rome, Imperial Great Britain, Napoleonic France, Germany x 2, Soviet Russia, fascist Italy, fascist Spain, to name a few.

It seems that every time someone gets all caught up in advancing their society in Europe, people have to die by the boatload, or maybe just become slaves, either to foreigners or to their own countrymen. That could get tiresome if it kept happening in your backyard.

And we don't know our history.

They're doing it again.

Given Europe’s demographics, socialism is too costly and it is unsustainable. Most of the EU countries have no reserves to have a military and thus no will to protect themselves. Therefore European leaders are like our socialist Jack Layton, they fool themselves into believing they can negotiate with thuggish Mullahs.

The UN is a millstone. We need a new formalized Coalition of the Willing. Perhaps some NATO members plus Japan and India. Civilization has to be seen to have some backbone or the Terrorists will out-recruit us and win.

Comment by Bruce Rheinstein:

Every society has collective ideals and values. What matters is what those values are. Nature abhors a vacuum, and loss of common ideals and values merely leads to their replacement. Even western multiculturalists generally insist on collective ideals and values -- for example, legal equality between the races and sexes.

Comment by nomdenet:

Tthe concept of equality between races and sexes does not belong to the multi-cultis.

That is simply a concept belonging to democracy. We're about to see if the Middle East will adopt it.
