Comment by Paul Denton:

"When their contract with Comedy Central expires, Matt Stone and Trey Parker should tell Viacom to screw off and release new, completely uncensored South Park episodes online."

Why bother? Under the current arrangement, they have the best of both worlds - a wide-release distribution model, *and* the chance to demonstrate to the audience it reaches what cowards the media are. (At the cowards' expense, even. Do you really think they'd pass that up for an iTunes Store-like model?)

I don't know if it would be a good idea to go off Comedy Central. Stern is not doing so well on satellite -- yet.

Wholly off topic but...HAPPY PASSOVER to all my fellow MOT's and HAPPY EASTER to the rest of you heretics ..;) (just kidding!)

"This is a little known tale of how G-d came to give the Jews the Ten Commandments.

G-d first went to the Egyptians and asked them if they would like a commandment. "What's a commandment?" they asked. "Well, it's like, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," replied G-d. The Egyptians thought about it and then said, "No way, that would ruin our weekends."

So then G-d went to the Assyrians and asked them if they would like a commandment. They also asked, "What's a commandment?" "Well," said G-d, "It's like, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL." The Assyrians immediately replied, "No way. That would ruin our economy."

So finally G-d went to the Jews and asked them if they wanted a commandment. They asked, "How much?" G-d said, "They're free."

The Jews said, "Great! We'll take TEN!"

I'd say as an immediate reaction all the South Park fans should boycott "The Daily Show." South Park's fans MADE Comedy Central; show the suits they can break 'em just as easily.

Umm...if Comedy Central really did censor South Park, then didn't that just prove the episode's point? Talk about self-defeating.

The fact is that in the Super Best friends episode, Muhammed wasn't portrayed in a bad light.....so Muslims wouldn't have reason to run around killing and maiming to protest Southpark back then.....The point is, if South Park ever treated Muhammed the way they treat Jesus Christ, Parker and Stone would be walking dead men....Such is Islam..

Indeed, even in their latest expose on Islamic idiocy, Parker and Stone will have to be very careful.......

I do get tired of much of their silly humour but last night's episode was excellent in how it not so subtley showed the intolerance that is Pure Islam and the gutlessness of the Media all at the same time.....

Southpark knows that showing Christ in a degrading manner will never get them in trouble or killed......they do know that to ridicule Muhammed and Islam, they are risking their necks!

Remember folks, it is in Islam's writings that even those that mock Muhammed can be killed!!

And they mean it....just ask Theo Van Gogh!

Happy Passover/Easter to everyone.

Cute story, DinV, but I think that part about not stealing ruining the assyrian economy may have some truth to it.

As for South Park's treatment of Christianity vs Islam; wasn't there a "Reindeer Down" episode in which Jesus and Mohammed duked it out in the boxing ring with Jesus winning?

Seems to me he was bruised and battered and his halo was all crooked and crumpled, but he'd won.

Um...they've been showing Mohammed every week in the opening credits. He's in the crowd shot, on the right side. How incendiary.

Comment by Muhamhead:

Cowards. How quick the PC pussies forget 9-11 and our nation's wake up call to pIslam's call to convert, kill us all or dhimmitude with sharia law hanging over our heads.

I hope someone does a redo on the Muhamhead cartoon and shows the pedophile for profit in full form buggering his 9 year old child bride while having his scribe write the porKoran's instuctions on the size of a stick husbands are to use to beat their wife with (see the hadiths and quran).

It's time to take the gloves off and smack the PC morons in the face. Nightly cartoons with Muhamhead could be run with ads selling "Allah's Swine Sperm Beer".

Good luck South Park. Take us out of the woods and poke the crap out of this terrorist desert cult.

Just a thought...Comedy Central's censoring message was kind of ham-fisted...do you think there's any chance that, just maybe, they could have had a part in all this? Wouldn't it have been easier to simply cut out that portion and plug in a commercial, or just put up the Comedy Central logo?

Comment by Tylonius:

Sigh. It was clearly part of the joke.

Let's see, here:

An entirely self-referential episode makes fun of both fundamentalists that are too uptight to recognize a harmless joke when they see one, and over-reactionary Americans that are too stupid to recognize a harmless joke when they see one.

And what do you know, a bunch right-wing douchebags turn out to be both!

Um, they can't. they don't own the show.

"It was clearly part of the joke."

As it happens, Tylonius, you may want to check your facts. The Volokh Conspiracy has this info from Anne Garefino, a South Park executive producer - [External Link] (post datestamped April 13, 2006 at 11:22pm).

Are you going to call me a right-wing douchebag, too?

Thanks for that link, Lizzie. It explains a lot. You know, Comedy Central reminds me of a schoolyard bully who regularly beats the stuffing out of the little geeky kid with glasses, knowing he won't fight back, but grovels before the school jock who he knows is willing and able to smash him into a pulp.

At least this time the bully isn't offering the excuse of "sensitivity" and "tolerance" towards the jock, but openly confessing his cowardice.

Unfortunately, he's still beating up the kid with glasses, while extolling his own "courage" and "daring."
