Comments: I'm getting a raging clue right now

'My only quibble with the episode is that it never explained exactly why some of the more common 9/11 theories, like jet fuel not burning hot enough to melt steel, are wrong.'

Didn't someone say that the fuel didn't have to melt the steel it just had to soften up the steel enough for it to bend and collapse.

Brian

A bunch of Jews and their Neocon Lackeys said this.

Are you getting a clue?

Yo Damian:

I spend 25 years working in oil processing plant and have seen several major fires and explosions - and their effect upon steel and metals in general.

No, jet fuel does not burn hot enough to melt steel - but put the tip of your jack knife on a stove burner and see what happens.

The steel changes to the baser iron and that more maluable metal cannot sustain the normal pressures the steel can. As well, this change takes place on the side of the metal (beams in this case) closest to the heat source. This causes an imbalance in the load bearing capabilites of the structure and the beams will actually end up looking like pretzels, bending toward the weakened side.

This can happened to a free-standing metal structure - a single piece of steel supporting nothing but itself.

From this it is fairely easy to see how any overheated structure and supporting steel components can fold in two like a piece of paper, and allow (in this case) the floors to crash down upon each other, the potential energy from the gravity increasing decreasing and the expended energy increasing arithmetically at each crash (floor).

Saw it. Laughed my head off.

Anyone who doubts this episode's effectiveness as a riposte to the Troooth movement should take a look at the Loose Change forum. The ranting, wailing, and frantic spinning over there is even funnier than the cartoon:

Are you doubting the power of The Dark Lord?
