Comments: Free speech still safe in Denmark
Comment by Alan K. Henderson:

Since the cartoons allegedly defamed Mohammed, only Mohammed can file a defamation suit, and the plaintiff happens to be dead...

The Danes seem to be the only ones with spine on the Continent. Fortunately there are plenty of Britons who support them in their efforts to prevent dhimification of the whole continent.

Seriously, its a pretty poor victory, based on the judges opinion that it was not "intended to insult and defame", or whatever the exact language said.

What if it was MEANT to insult. Is that not free speech? If the judge had thought it WAS meant to insult something the cartoonists thought was worth insulting, because of their perception of islam as a generally backward and violent theology/ ideology, would that now be banned?

Phooey.

FYI,from wikipedia.
"Between October 2005 and the end of January 2006, examples of the cartoons were reprinted in major European newspapers from the Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium and France. Very soon after, as protests grew, there were further re-publications around the globe, but primarily in continental Europe.

Notable for a lack of republication of the cartoons were major newspapers in the USA and the United Kingdom..."

So you know all about spine, eh?
