Comments: Afstan: Bush-clone cowboy warmonger!
Comment by Dudley Morris:

Who knows how this might play out; maybe with the Democrats in control of the legislature and Clinton clearly onside, the Euro's will be a bit more forthcoming with their troops (in numbers and mandate). Only Nixon could go to China, etc. etc...

How about "Bush to Iran"--that's a thought. One man who takes God seriously talking to another. Who knows?

Taliban Jack bin Layton would rather fight the terrorists in our subways and on our airliners - or not at all seeing as how their ideas of controlling people are quite similar.

Mark. you contradict yourself in the same post. First you say no major media picked up the story, then you say CBC picked it up. Like it or not, CBC is a major media in Canada.

Rather than post these rhetorical questions ... why not take a journalism course or ask people at journalism schools or with the media your questions?? Seriously. If you had a medical question you'd ask a doctor wouldn't you?

CBC News online is hardly mainstream. Indeed this item is buried deep within their website and, last time I looked, wasn't even mentioned on their home page. We'll have to wait and see if it's covered on the radio or TV tonight.

Comment by Mark Collins:

mikeg: Not one major paper. CBC online--was it covered in an actual newscast? Ignored, because inconvenient. Our media do not like us to know that US Democrats are far more comfortable with combat--with defending national interests with force--than our three opposition parties. Not that the Conservatives are actually comfortable either.

The Democrats are certainly not advocating any quick exit from Afstan, yet Canadians think they are oh so much better and nicer than those crazed Republicans.

If I want to know the facts, or the real context of a story, I would certainly not ask almost any Canadian journalist (perhaps you would care to comment on this post).

And the very idea that our journalism schools should be taken seriously is a true howler. They produce the problem.

Yo Mark:

CBC news did carry it on their local coverage. Not extensively, but enough that I knew Clinton supported our continuing stay in Afghanistan.

Comment by Jeff:

What is Clinton's position on Iraq? Because if he's a typical "cut-and-runnner", this speech to Canadians would be mighty hypocritical.

Comment by Mark Collins:

Jeff: Afstan is not Iraq.
