Comments: No Christmas Tree, No Christmas Tree...
Comment by Ran Hay:

""It's so stupid. I'm at a loss for words," said Muslim Canadian Congress founder Tarek Fatah. "The judge should take a trip to the rest of the world. Christmas is celebrated by Muslims in many countries -- they should ban political correctness, not Christmas trees."

Three Cheers for Tarek!

Hey, Damian, how about inviting this gent to submit a blogpost or two...

"I bet one person complained. That's usually all it takes."

I'm not even certain one person complained. From what I heard, the judge took it upon herself to make that decision.

Yes, often it doesn't need even a single complaint. Our local seniors' centre had to take down all its Christmas lights and decorations after management decided the single Muslim working at the reception desk "might" be offended. The seniors loved those decorations, especially the very frail ones who can't get out any more. But THEIR feelings were not considered.

It's not minority groups who are doing this, it's the usual suspects: power-tripping, politically correct, white liberal pinheads. Lay the blame at their feet.

'Tis the season to be offended.

Perhaps they should take a lesson from bench on the other side of the 49th parallel and institute the Three Reindeer Rule. Throw in a Menorah, a bright red plastic Santa, Frosty the Snowman, and some Kwanzaa bric-a-brac, and it's magically transformed from a religious to a cultural display.

I'm not familiar with the "Three Reindeer Rule" in Canada. Does that mean one of santa's reindeer must be straight, the other gay and the third transgendered? Merry Christmas all.

You really hit the nail on the head, Ellie. In my experience it is almost always this group that is responsible for all the politically correct insanity. They just use the purported sensibilities of religious/ethnic minorities as a cover for their agenda.

I hope a lot of people complain and this twit drowns (figuratively speaking) in a sea of paper work. Decisions like this deserve punishment. Over on CTV they had a quote from McSquinty and even he thought this was a stupid move.

Even if Bill O'Reilly could copyright a mere title -- and he can't -- it's up to him, not you, to enforce it.

Only in San Francisco.

Comment by Rudy:

Christmas trees offensive? Because somehow it has become a legal right in this province to never be reminded that someone else may have a different religion than you.

This is what the politically correct people have done to destroy any real tolerance or diversity. We are now so tolerant, that any display of any religious faith, or philosophical opinion is verboten, because, you see, it may cause one to think that perhaps, because somewhere, someone, (perhaps the Christmas Tree Worshipping Cult?) who has a different view than you, would actually disagree with your views if ever you met each other.
We are so tolerant now that it is our right to go through life without ever having to consider that someone may have a different way of thinking. The judge is just upholding this standard: that the sure way of making all religions and opinions equal is to ban all of them equally.
