Comments: EU: More principle than Canadian journalists
Comment by Philanthropist:

Arms limitation treaties with dictatorships mean nothing, as soon as a dictatorship has the ability it breaks the treaty - 'progressive' left leaning people are dupes.

Whereas a real investigative piece by the press would ask the following question:

Is it possible that EUROPE's actions precipitated the recent ASAT test?

In particular, when the Europeans, in a classic game of three-card monty, took Chinese money to get Galileo off the ground, then promptly booted the Chinese OUT of Galileo (the new governing authority can only have European countries on it), apparently they expected no reaction.

And there wasn't one, even when the Chinese talked about orbiting their own GPS-type system that might well interfere with the EU's Galileo system by broadcasting on the same frequency.

Think the Chinese might be ticked off at the EU, and having failed to precipitate a sufficiently contrite reaction, are now looking to gain some additional attention?

Nah.

As you said, it must be George and Dick's fault.
