I guess I'd quibble with this one, though: "Farrakhan is a man of the left." In fact, I'd more than quibble. He's the head of the Nation of Islam. Check out its history, from the old "Black Muslim" days. It was never a left-wing formation--it's always pushed what Bobby Seale called "cultural-nationalist horseshit." Couldn't have put it better myself.

It would be amusing to score the wingnuttiness of the left and right, based on a comprehensive collection of outrageous quotes. Each quote would be weighted according to the severity of the slur ("faggot" gets more points than "probably sounded better in the original German" [1]) and the fame of the speaker (Ted Kennedy would carry more weight than Ms. Garofalo). Of course, it would be too time-consuming to be really worthwhile, and finding a sufficiently impartial panel would not be easy.
