That's what makes the show interesting, that and the balance between Clarkson and the Hamster and Captain Slow. Top Gear isn't journalism, it's entertainment.
A couple of points:
1. Clarkson, along with his executive producer friend, happens to own the production company responsible for Top Gear.
2. However, they do *not* own Dunsfold Park in Surrey, the facility (including aerodrome, runway and test track) where the show is actually shot. There are apparently plans to redevelop the site;

So it's quite possible that Clarkson's referring not so much to personnel leaving the show as to the possibility that they can't find a new site to shoot it.

I watched Top Gear without Clarkson and it was lame. He is a pain in the arse but an amusing pain in the arse. And the left/envirofascists in the UK bloody hate him which is a great.
